I purchased a Mercedes for £15k and it has had multiple problems. I have requested a refund but the garage have refused. What are my rights?

I purchased a Mercedes Benz AMG in February for £15k and straight from the off it has had multiple problems - two gearbox rebuilds plus many other things. I have a list of emails stating the issues and me requesting my money back many times. The garge have refused to give me my money back, but have offered to find a replacement car, however this has been dragging on for months now. I simply want to wash my hands of it and start again elsewhere, what are my rights?

The Sale of Goods Act 1979 provides that the vehicle should be:- 1. as described; 2. of satisfactory quality bearing in mind the age and cost, and 3. fit for any reasonable purpose.   Where the goods are not of a satisfactory quality or are not fit for their purpose there are four remedies:-  1. the right to have the goods repaired; 2. replacement  3.  reject the goods and receive a full refund or 4. accept a partial refund.   Without knowing the extent of any remaining defects it is not possible to advise whether you may be entitled to reject the goods but if this is your preferred option you should inform the dealer that you are rejecting the goods and require a full refund.  Thereafter you must not use the vehicle or do anything inconsistent with your rejection of the goods.  If the dealer is not prepared to refund the full purchase price you may commence a claim in the County Court seeking a refund of the purchase price but before doing so you should seek specific legal advice because of the sums involved.
