How can I reclaim all the illegal bank and credit card charges?
I've read that the banks have been making illegal charges on my bank accounts and credit cards. How can I find out if I'm due any money back? I haven't kept any statements.
For 18 months prior to July '07 people had been successfully reclaiming bank and credit card charges.However in July '07 the Financial Services Authority put a stop to this on the banks behalf and a test case was announced. 6 months later it came to court and in April '08 the court deemed the bank charges to be unfair but have not yet ruled on what is fair. Everything is now on hold.
Its important you get your claim in now reclaiming unfair but not illegal charges as you will only be able to claim 6 years prior to the date of claim.
The banks will have all the relevant records.
